The Indiana General Assembly is a bicameral legislature, meeting during odd numbered years for 61 days, adjourning by April 30th. While in even numbered years they are meeting for 30 days, adjourning by March 15th. The Indiana General Assembly consists of an upper chamber, the Senate, and a lower chamber, the House of Representatives. The 50 member Indiana Senate is currently controlled by the Republicans, holding 41 seats, with the Senate Democrats holding 9 seats. In the 100 member Indiana House of Representatives, Republicans hold 70 seats, and the Democrats hold 30 seats. Eric Holcomb serves as the 51st Governor of Indiana, he is a member of the Republican Party. 2017 marks the 120th Indiana Legislative Session.
