The Delaware General Assembly typically meets from January to June each calendar year. The Delaware General Assembly consists of an upper chamber, the Senate, and a lower chamber, the House of Representatives. The 21 member Delaware Senate is currently controlled by the Democrats, holding 11 seats, with the Senate Republicans holding 10 seats. In the 41 member Delaware House of Representatives, Democrats hold 25 seats, and the Republicans hold 16 seats. John Carney Jr. serves as the 74th Governor of Delaware, he is a member of the Democratic Party.
