What you’ll do

Political decision making is distributed, disorganised and generally hard to follow at a larger scale, this is the issue we work on at Statehill. By collecting, normalising, organising and presenting information in a thoughtful way we give individuals and organisations greater insight into the political processes around the world.

As a full stack developer at Statehill you’ll work on everything from our data collection systems, our API, background processing tasks and our frontend SPA. We have a model for distributed ownership of the stack where everyone can influence the decision making process.

Who you are

You enjoy writing JavaScript, have work experience and know the importance of working test driven and agile, you’re confident when it comes to:

  • Frontend (Vue, React, webpack, scss)
  • Backend (Node, Express)

And it’s nice if you know/and or is familiar with:

  • Ruby (Rails)
  • MySQL
  • NoSQL (key-value stores, search)
  • Operations (bash, Terraform, AWS)
  • GraphQL

Tech we use

We are big fans of the Amazon Web Services eco system where we leverage a lot of services, including Route53, S3, EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, CloudFront, CloudSearch, Data Pipeline, Comprehend, Athena, Lambda, RDS, ElastiCache and more. The majority of our stack is written in JavaScript but our approach is to use the right tools to accomplish the tasks we face, therefor we also use Ruby, Python and Java.
